Carey Cordell  > People > Native Americans
Heard about an Indian Pow Wow and thought it would be interesting to see. Poor conditions for shooting. It was in the middle of the day and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Many people from all over gathered for this weekend ceremony. This was my first exposure to native americans and I was impressed by their spirituality, concern for earth and the environment, and respect for everyone. I did learn that if you want to photograph a native american, it is appropriate to ask permission. There were times during the ceremony that photography was not permitted. I believe it had to do with the fact that the people dancing at the time were wearing eagle feathers, though I am not sure.
